During the Maine First 10 Summer Institute, Partnership teams had the opportunity to share brief video highlights of the First 10 activities in their communities. Each video showed the ways in which communities have adapted and implemented First 10 activities. In this blog post, we highlight two videos that offer examples of building partnerships with local organizations and connecting families with resources in creative ways:

Building Community Partnerships in Greater Belfast

The Greater Belfast First 10 Partnership worked with community organizations such as the YMCA and Waldo Community Action Partners (WCAP) to host many events including a Family Friendly Safety and Health Fair. During this event, children were able to ride the school bus for the first time and families received information to support their children’s learning and development. The Greater Belfast Team, in partnership with WCAP was also able to host a series of play and learn sessions for children and families.

Building Connections in Limestone-Caswell

To better connect families to resources across their community, the Limestone-Caswell First 10 Partnership Team hosted a community open house and created a community resource room. The resource room provides helpful information for families so they can support their children’s learning and development. The Limestone-Caswell First 10 Partnership Team also helped build working relationships between the district’s schools and local childcare providers to support kindergarten readiness.

These videos provide a snapshot of some of the great initiatives to support children and families happening across the First 10 network.
